\"impeachTelegraph<\/b> – Donald Trump’s Presidential approval rating continues to worsen after it emerged he is under investigation<\/a> for a possible obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n

Robert Mueller, the special counsel appointed to examine Russia\u2019s role in the presidential election, is now reportedly directly examining the behaviour of the President as well members of\u00a0his wider campaign team.<\/p>\n

This latest development comes after a friend of Trump said that the President was considering firing Mueller<\/a> from this role, just months after firing ex-FBI chief James Comey over the Russia investigation.<\/p>\n

T<\/span>rump’s first months as president have seen persistent allegations over Russian connections,\u00a0tirades against the media, a failure to push through healthcare reform, a shift to a more proactive foreign policy, and attempts to create manufacturing jobs in the US.<\/p>\n

When he assumed office, the billionaire businessman, TV star\u00a0and now 45th US president\u00a0also enjoyed the\u00a0lowest approval rating of any recent president\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 and these ratings haven’t got any better.<\/p>\n

At the\u00a0100-day milestone,\u00a0Gallup daily polling<\/a>\u00a0showed\u00a0that just 40 per cent of Americans approved of the way Trump is handling his new job\u00a0\u2013 compared to 55 per cent that disapprove.<\/p>\n

Historically, it has usually taken\u00a0American presidents\u00a0hundreds of days before they reach a majority disapproval rating<\/a>.<\/p>\n

T<\/span>his has been the case for the last five presidents \u2013 with Bill Clinton\u00a0lasting a record 573 days before more than 50 per cent\u00a0of Americans disapproved of his presidency.<\/p>\n

B<\/span>ut\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0smashed this record after\u00a0surging into the White House<\/a>\u00a0on a wave of anti-establishment anger.<\/p>\n

It took just eight days for him to gain a majority disapproval rating, according to Gallup, with 51 per cent of Americans saying they disapproved of the President on\u00a0January 28, 2016.<\/p>\n

The sacking of James Comey – apparently over the FBI’s investigation into the Trump camp’s pre-election links with Russia – has accelerated Trump’s approval rating decline, standing at\u00a039\u00a0per cent according to the latest average.<\/p>\n

What are the latest impeachment odds for Trump?<\/h3>\n

The Comey sacking episode has raised serious questions in the US over whether the president, in getting rid of the ex-FBI chief, was committing an obstruction of justice.<\/p>\n

The idea\u00a0of impeachment has started to be uttered by legal experts as well as by Al Green, a Democrat congressman from Texas.<\/p>\n
