A friend of IfP (Ralph at politicalsongs.net) sent this new song to us. I think it’s kinda cool!

\nPolls show half the country want impeachment hearings, It’s not just me and you
\nBut Congress won’t even discuss it, we got an elephant in the room
\nThe speaker says its off of the table, and the candidates think its too hot
\nSo George Bush keeps doing whatever he wants, whether it is legal or not<\/p>\n

And while they keep playing political games, we keep losing more ground
\nSo if impeachment is off the table, maybe we should turn those tables around<\/p>\n

This Impeachment is not about payback, and its not a radical thing
\nIt’s the way to ensure that a president, doesn’t turn into a king
\nThe Constitution mentions it six times, and we’ve all seen it in our lives
\nThey used it on Clinton for telling a lie, even though nobody died<\/p>\n

And even the right wing guy who started that fight, thinks W. needs to go down
\nSo if impeachment is off the table, I think we’ve gotta turn those tables around<\/p>\n

He lied about his reasons for going to war, even Greenspan says it was for oil
\nSpies on citizens without warrants or cause, usurping constitutional law
\nIssues signing statements most everyday, saying he won’t abide by the Congress’s will
\nHolds prisoners in Cuba without a right to trial, and torture is going on still<\/p>\n

He swore he’d preserve & protect the Constitution, but look where we are now
\nIf impeachment is off the table, you know we’ve got to turn those tables around<\/p>\n

Democracy can only work if people stand up to what is wrong
\nIf politicians keep impeachment off the table, the people need to put it back on<\/p>\n

The only way to break this spell, is to speak up loud and strong
