The George W. Bush presidency may end in a year, but that isn’t soon enough for the 25 or so protesters who gathered on the median of Galleria Drive this afternoon. They say they want to see Bush — and vice-president Dick Cheney — impeached for lying about the Iraq War and violating the U.S. Constitution.<\/p>\n
There were long-time protesters: “I started before the war; it’s time the American people stand up,”\u009d Middletown’s Stiles Najac said.<\/p>\n
There were the converts: “I voted for Bush twice, and I’m a registered Republican. I didn’t realize the Iraq war was based on a lie,”\u009d said Goshen’s Tamara Grapek.<\/p>\n
There were the inspired: “He (Bush) made me into an activist and a writer,”\u009d said Goshen’s Tom Degan, who blogs his displeasure of the current administration.<\/p>\n
Local civil rights lawyer Michael Sussman marched back and forth with a large American flag in one hand and an “IMPEACH”\u009d sign in the other.<\/p>\n
The protestors blasted their message through a megaphone. They handed out pamphlets to cars stopped at the traffic light. And they implored drivers to honk their approval.<\/p>\n
