Just found out that Obama had my \u2018wires tapped\u2019 in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!\u201d Trump tweeted\u00a0 before adding, \u201cIs it legal for a sitting President to be \u2018wire tapping\u2019 a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It has been speculated that Trump\u2019s wild accusations followed the president being alerted to a<a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2017\/03\/03\/mark-levin-obama-used-police-state-tactics-undermine-trump\/\">Breitbart article<\/a> accusing Obama of orchestrating a \u201csilent coup\u201d against the administration. The article asserts that the Justice Department made two\u00a0Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) requests in 2016 requesting Trump communications and data on a\u00a0computer server in Trump Tower be monitored for connections to Russian banks or contacts.<\/p>\n<div id=\"story-page-embedded-after5-ad\" class=\"story-page-embedded-ad\">\n<div class=\"proper-ad-unit \">\n<div id=\"proper-ad-rawstory_content_1\" data-google-query-id=\"CLGspcXCvdICFYoxaQodGHoOZg\"><\/div>\n<p>Although Trump provided no information that he may have been monitored, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) stated that the president may want to lawyer up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cMr. President: If there was a wiretap at Trump Tower, that means a fed judge found probable cause of crime which means you are in deep shit,\u201d Lieu wrote.
