Wexler Cosponsors Bush’s Impeachment

Congressman Robert Wexler — Our effort to hold the Bush/Cheney Administration accountable has taken another dramatic step forward. Last night, Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced the first Articles of Impeachment ever to be introduced against President Bush. It includes, in total, thirty-five Articles detailing this Administration’s blatant abuse of power. Today, I enthusiastically co-sponsored this vitally important bill.

I am grateful for Dennis’ leadership on this issue and for the steadfast support that countless Americans have given to both of our efforts to redeem our government and expose the crimes of Bush and Cheney.

I will now expand my efforts to secure impeachment hearings in the Judiciary Committee for these new Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.

Many of the charges against President Bush are well known ““ and would shock the conscience of everyday Americans if only the national media would be willing to report on these stark facts.

The Articles present a stunning narrative of offenses that have go well beyond previous crimes committed by any US chief executive. In fact no President or Vice President in history has done more to undermine our constitution.

These charges are broad, with 35 separate allegations including the deliberate lies regarding WMDs that led us to war and the approval of illegal wiretapping of American citizens. The Articles also include new allegations of high crimes ““ including the explicit approval for high Administration officials to violate treaties and US law banning the use of torture.

The Democratic Party gained a majority in the House and Senate due in large part to our promises to end the corruption of the Republican majority and to hold the Administration accountable to the law. This courageous bill is a crucial step towards fulfilling this promise, but ““ like the Articles against Cheney ““ they require your support to convince Democrats and open-minded Republicans to support this bold but necessary action.

Time is running out so we must work together to spread the message and apply pressure.

First, please encourage your friends and family members to sign up at WexlerWantsHearings.com ““ as it will allow us to keep in touch with you and speak to a wider audience. If you haven’t yet put in your phone and address, please sign up again, as we will be doing telephone town halls in the near future.

Second, call your representative and urge them to support Impeachment hearings.

Finally, contact newspapers, news stations, and your favorite bloggers and urge them to report on this movement. We need to keep Impeachment a significant news story until the Democratic leadership sees the value in it.

McClellan Agrees to Testify:

I was pleased to inform you yesterday that Judiciary Committee Chairman Conyers met my call to have Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan testify under oath. I am thrilled to inform you that McClellan has agreed to testify on June 20th at 10AM. This will be the first step in what we hope will be ongoing and deepening examinations of the stark evidence and charges against both President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Thank you for your continued passion and advocacy. Your support means so much to me.

Sincerely,

Congressman Robert Wexler

  1. Mikael,

I want to thank you for pointing out to me just how stupid both of us are for wasting our time jabbing back and forth at each other on this blog. I think we are the only two that read this trivial tripe, and we are both so stubborn that you’ll never change my mind, and I’ll never change yours. So, we have to agree to disagree, at least on the impeachment issue.

As for the Christian issue, our time and passion would be better spent spreading the news of the lifesaving blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’m sure that He would rather have us doing that than wasting our time here. After all, we are both Christians, and that means we’ve vowed to the Lord to work for Him, not some political party or losing cause like impeaching the President.

Maybe we’ll meet in Heaven some day and laugh about just how rediculous and meaningless this life on earth was. As for me, I’m tired of wasting my time on the rediculous and meaningless. I’m going to get back to my on-line ministry and the work at my church. I hope you will, too.

God bless, and thanks again for opening my eyes.

  2. Earl,

You keep “ending” the conversation with a reply.

Hatred of sin, avarice, greed is a righteous and justified hatred.

I never said I was without sin, and I have no problem pointing out the abundant sins of murder, lying, cheating, stealing by the Bush Administration. If you were honest with yourself you wouldn’t either.

I always have “an intelligent conversation”… apparently you are having trouble keeping up.

I would suggest that you study more and give your opinions less as your opinions are so completely baseless.

  3. Since you profess to know me so well, and you refuse to have an intelligent conversation, this subject is closed.

Just remember, Jesus never met a person that He hated. He also said, “He who is without sin, cast the first stone.”

  4. Earl,

You are completely deluded. You have fallen into the trap of worshiping wolves in sheep’s clothing.

I have Christ in my life. I have been a Christian for decades. You assumption that I am not a Christian reveals the shallowness of your faith and the fact that you worship Bush as an idol over Jesus Christ. Repent!

You are a pro-torture Christian as you support this Presidency. If you were a Roman you would have cheered Christ’s cruciixion. He was a dissident, you know. He opposed the church leadership at the time and opposed the government in power at the time. I am sure that if you saw Jesus protesting somewhere you would cheer for the riot police to mace Him, pepper spray, beat him and illegally detain Him.

You are much more like a “Good German” Christian – deluded into supporting an administration that engages in preemptive war (war of aggression much like Hitler’s attacks on Poland and Czechoslovakia). You support a President who supports torture and whose lies have led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and has cost thousands of American lives.

You say: “I’ve supported every President that I served under,” so that means to me that if you were born in Germany in 1920 you would have signed right up and obeyed the illegal orders given to the National Socialist Army in 1938. You would have blindly obeyed orders to oppress
gypsies, homosexuals and socialists… then eventually you would have helped to round up the Jews (“Just obeying orders!!!”) You don’t have a brain… why would you need one? You have a President to worship and a political party to serve without question!

Finally Earl, stop the “Bush hater” bullshit. I wouldn’t have any hatred for Bush if he wasn’t such a lying, pathetic, horrible leader. I could care less about Bush, I just hate his policies that completely serve the rich and leave the working class out in the cold. Bush is simply the worst disaster this great nation has ever had to endure.

By the way Mr. Republican. Take a look over the last dozen or so votes for Veteran’s Benefits. Who supports the troops? Why is it that the GOP consistently votes to send kids to war but won’t vote to take care of the wounded once they are home? Why is your party full of such hypocrites?

“Pro-life”??? What a joke! The deaths Bush’s wars of opportunity and oil baron conquest have led to the murder of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who simply believed they should defend their country from invasion. LIes about WMDs, lies about Iraq’s connection to 9/11, lies about Sadaam’s connection to Osama, lies about al Qaeda in Iraq prior to the invasion (Al Qaeda being a CIA construct by the way… but that is a bit over your head, I am sure).

Al Qaeda wasn’t a blip on the Iraqi radar screen until the Bush that you worship started Operation Iraqi Liberation (O.I.L… remember that one?).

America, Love it or Leave It? That is the single most mindless, moronic statement ever devised by man.

America. Love it and Do Everything in your Power to make it great and keep it great.

I know it is simpler the way you look at it. Being blindly obedient instead of actually thinking for yourself is easier, so I can understand how you might fall prey to that temptation.

But God gave us minds to discern truth from crap.

George W. Bush, pretending to be a Christian but acting in every way like a sadistic, self-righteous, war-mongering demon instead…

I use my God-given discernment to recognize him as a wolf in sheep’s clothing and to resist his anti-Christ policies with my every breath.

You, on the other hand, simply obey orders from whomever is in charge.

  5. Mikael,

I do not worship the President or Fox news, I worship the one and only true and living God. I follow the example of His Son, Jesus Christ, and try my best to live a life pleasing to Him. I worship no other.

As for three things on President Bush, in your blind hatred for the Conservative Right, you must have missed what I listed a couple of comments back. So, I’ll repeat them just for you. President Bush has prevented another attack on this nation.

He has kept unemployment lower than President Clinton did, with the exception of the last few months; but there have been increased layoffs in the last few months because companies had to cut manpower in order to purchase fuel for their businesses. The increase in fuel, by the way, was the failure of the Democrat Congress, because Rep Pelosi vowed when she took the helm of the House to reduce gas prices. Well, gas wsa $2.22 a gallon when she took over, and you know what it is now. Of course, in the liberal mind, that’s Bush’s fault.

Finally, the President has returned honor to the offfice and has rebulit the military. He has won the respect and support of the military, and that’s something President Clinton did not have, and if Sen. Obama gets in, he won’t have their respect, either. I know first hand of President Clinton’s disdain for the military, because I was serving when he took office. He messes the military up in no time flat.

There are many more honorable accomplishments that can be attributed to President Bush. Unfortunately, those on the left are so blinded by hatred that it’s a waste of time trying to explain them.

It’s people like you that make me think that my 20+ years in the military were a waste. You don’t honor those who have preserved your freedom. You don’t honor the country that protects your freedom. And, by the tone of your comments, you don’t have any respect or love for this country. You are closed-minded and selfish, and you obviously don’t have America’s interests ahead of your own. It’s sad.

Still, I’m proud of the time I served, and I would have given my life to preserve your freedom to be close-minded. I believe in the saying, “America, love it or leave it.” And I’ve supported every President that I served under, no matter what they stood for or how they treated the fine men and women in uniform. And that includes Presidents Carter and Clinton, neither of which really deserved to be Commander-in-Chief.

By the way, Mikael, this is my last comment. I’m wasting my time even trying to convince you that there is a positive side of President Bush. If you could get rid of your hatred, you might see what I’m talking about.

You need Christ in your life. I’ll pray for you.

    Earl

  6. Earl,

The only kool-aid drinking is the FAUXnews you have been worshiping for the last few years. Your blind loyalty to the President would have served you well in the 30’s as a brown shirt loyalist to Hitler. You have no discretion, no filter through which to discern whether the leader you worship on bended knee is worthy of the subservience you have devoted to it.

Can you step back and tell us three things the Bush has done over the last 8 years that has made America better? Economically? Security? Foreign Relations? Oversight of corruption in businesses and corporations? Honest elections?

    ANYTHING AT ALL EARL?

  7. It’s apparent that the kool-aid has taken over your brain. This dialogue will get nowhere as long as there is pure hatred for President Bush, Conservatives, and Patriotic Americans. What ever happended to supporting the President and standing up like real Americans? Pray for America and for all Americans.

  8. “As for President Bush, when history is finally written on him, he’s going to shine as one of the best Presidents in modern history.”

    Laughable.

That single simplistic statements reveals you to be completely and totally devoid of any understanding of who this President is and what he has done.

You are what we call a 26%er… the last dregs of loyalists so blinded by FAUXNews input that you will never see or acknowledge the truth about this most secretive-ever, most destructive to the Constitution-ever, most damaging to our foreign relations-ever, most abusive and mis-managing of our military forces-ever President in history.

Aside from the broad spectrum of crimes and impeachable offenses Bush has been far less than mediocre. He has been horrendous.

Bush inherited the largest surplus in history and squandered it into the largest deficit ever in just 2 1/2 years of his first term.

9/11 OCCURRED ON HIS WATCH AFTER HE IGNORED PLENTY OF WARNING SIGNS PASSED ON TO HIM BY THE CLINTON ADMINISTRATION AND WARNINGS FROM HIS OWN INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES AS WELL AS INTERNATIONAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES.

9/11 HAPPENED ON HIS WATCH… AS DID THE ANTHRAX ATTACKS – A SECOND TERRORIST ATTACK UNSOLVED BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION.

You make yourself look silly praising this worst-ever President.

But keep trying. It’s a free country… kinda.

  9. Mikael,

I did not resort to calling you any names. I am neither mindless or a blind loyalist. I have many disagreements with the Republican party and do not spout GOP talking points. My comments and beliefs come from decades of watching and listening to the goings on in DC and I do know what I’m talking about. And I’m sure that if you took the time to honestly and openly study your own party, you’d find out that I’m absolutely right in what I’ve said.

Rep. Wexler, and many other Democrats and Republicans, were not sent to Washington to promote their own petty agendas. They were sent to do the business of taking care of the people. Instead, many of them spend their time ensureing that the partisan divide remains in place. To tell you the truth, they should all be kicked out and new blood should be put in their place, with term limits to boot.

As for President Bush, when history is finally written on him, he’s going to shine as one of the best Presidents in modern history. He has protected us since 9-11, kept unemployment low, kept interest rates low, and built the military back into a strong and respected force. It’s only been the last two years of his administration that things have soured a little, but is he to blame or is it because of the worst Congress in history? His favorable ratings are low, but Congress’ favorable ratings have dipped into the single digits a couple of times. Pelosi and Reid are disgraces and should be removed from their positions.

Of course, you probably think these are just more GOP talking points. Think what you want. Everything I’ve said is true.

And I have a ton more of substance to add, but I’m probably wasting my time in this forum.

    Earl

  10. Earl,

Bla, bla, bla, GOP Talking Points, bla, bla, bla, mindless Republican blind loyalist jabber, bla, bla, bla…

Anything at all to contribute of substance, Sir?

    ~ Mikael

  11. Mikael,

President Bush is innocent of all charges. If he were guilty, then he should be held accountable. Eveyone knows these are trumped up charges that would never hold water in a court of law. They’re made up by those who truly hate the idea of a Republican president doing a good job. They’re a smoke screen used to cover the wrong doings of Democrats like Wexler and others.

By the way, the partisan divide is a Democrat creation.

  12. Earl,

When a Democrat commits a crime, do you think they should be held accountable?

If a Democratic President violated your Fourth Amendment rights, would you want them held accountable?

If a Democratic President presented false evidence in order to initiate a War of Aggression would you want them held accountable?

If a Democratic President outed a CIA NOC Intelligence Officer during wartime, would you want them held accountable?

Wexler is doing his duty and honoring his oath of office.

This great country needs to get over the Rovian-created partisan divide and support candidates and office holders of EVERY stripe who will hold lawbreaking officials accountable.

  13. It’s amazing how many hateful, misinformed and misdirected people there are in this, the greatest nation in the world. Congressman Wexler, you were voted into office to support and defend the Constitution, not spend your time trying to take down the President with lies and deceit. Speaking of lies and deceit, when are you going to come clean about NOT residing in the district you represent? You should be ashamed of yourself. And anyone who votes to reelect you this November should be ashamed of themselves.

Go ahead and waste your time trying to impeach Bush and Cheney. You’ll be the one with egg on your face when it’s all said and done. There are many more important issues to fight for.

  14. Dear Sir,
I am muslim from Africa, I wish American people succeed to take Mr.President Bush and his administrations which involved in the ocupation of Iraq and all arab who worked with Mr. Bush to Juctice. Allah is the God of Muslims and commanded all muslims be just, do not attack but defend,do not kill but defend,If American people and arab nations unite against terror and end occupation of all countries then will live in peace.
I wish Allah save all innocent all over the world.

  15. Does anyone expect Bush to give up all this power and hand it to Obama or McCain? October Surprise?

  16. This is a great move but its not going to go anywhere. This administration is going to attack Iran and when they do Russia and China are going to destroy the USA. Russia has stated this many times over and have put the hardware in place to do it. This is the story thats told over and over in the Bible. Read Amos, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and Jeremiah and many more. Get out while you still can.

  17. Although I am upset that it took this long in the term, I understand that the level of intimidation imposed by the Administration as well as the power associated with the Bush family had both played a predominant role in Washington. However, the time is now to reveal these lies and restore ethical power and prestige to Washington and the United States.

  18. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…impeached, given a fair trial for treason, and if found guilty, executed.

  19. Randi Rhodes is right. You are amazing. I saw every minute of the DNC Rules Committee Hearings and you were eloquent, to the point, and impassioned. As for the president (and the VP, for that matter), I will encourage my senators (Clinton and Schumer – the latter having recommended Mukasey for Attorney General in the first place) and Rep. Tom Reynolds (oy) to sign on to the impeachment HEARINGS. As one rep. in the movie 1776 said, “I never heard of a subject so dangerous it couldn’t be discussed!” (paraphrase)

I know Nancy Pelosi and probably Harry Reid were both culpable in this Iraq farce. Rove is cagey that way. So I will write them as well and say, “Do you want to go down in history as people of integrity, or just as politicians trying to cover your own jobs (meaning asses) while our kids were eating sand, braving 120 degree temperatures in full army gear, and falling prey to IEDs manufactured specifically for maiming, killing, and mentally impairing them? Let your conscience be your guide. Better to lose a cushy position than lose your credibility as Americans.

  20. You are my hero.

I am a constituent and you have renewed my faith in politicians. Thank you for doing what is right in the face of adversity and apathy.
