[OpEd] From a reader of IFP: Demand Impeachment or move to Recall your Representative

“It’s great to see that so many people (and towns and cities and states) want Bush impeached, but frankly, the grassroots efforts will only be successful if we all DEMAND that our elected representatives actually DO something to represent the will of the people, and bring articles of impeachment.

Here’s what needs to be done. Write your representatives and inform them that if they do not move for impeachment, then you will move for their recall, on the grounds of dereliction of duty – their duty is to represent the interests and will of the people they serve, and that ain’t being done.

Then follow through. Start a letter-writing campaign. Make sure that every single day, your representatives are on notice that their districts are not real happy. Begin collecting petition signatures to recall those representatives, and make sure that every single day, your rep knows how many new signatures there are.

Light a fire under ’em. Make sure they know that you see silence as complicity, that nothing less than a move to impeach GWB will save them their jobs.

I have already put my reps on notice.”
