Impeachment Day: Dec 10

Thanks in part to global warming, it was a balmy 48 degrees on this Impeachment Day, Sunday, December 10th, 2006 at the Purgatory Creek Recreation Area in Eden Prairie, MN at 1:00 p.m.. Between fifteen and twenty people all told gathered at the park (in a somewhat spread out fashion) to deliver the pro-impeachment message. Traffic was fairly thick, allowing a large number of people to see our timely message. We received a lot of positive reactions in the form of honking, thumbs up, and smiles. Considering Bush’s remarkably low approval rating at this time, we did receive a surprising number of defensive reactions, however. Jeers from cars included but were not limited to “faggot” and “commie pinko,” complete with suggestions to “get a job,” “go home,” “grow up,” and “go kill yourselves.” Few of the protesters, many of whom insisted that they were already gainfully employed, appeared to take this advice especially seriously. Flip offs and thumbs down signs were almost as common as supportive gestures, undoubtedly due to the location in a relatively affluent suburb. However, when one of the protesters made a sign that said “Flip me off for impeachment,” the number of flip offs took a sharp dive to almost none and never recovered.
