Michael Berg, the father of U.S. contractor Nicholas Berg who was beheaded by al-Zarqawi had this to say upon the death of his son’s murderer:
//”Revenge is what killed my son,” said Berg. “My son died in a perpetual cycle of revenge that goes on and on, forever. It’s got to stop somewhere. As far as I’m concerned, it will stop with me.”//
Father of Beheaded Man Blames Bush, Not al-Zarqawi
So… when Jesus said “Turn the other cheek”, it applied to individuals in America in 2006?
Apparently it does to at least one man in Delaware:
Michael Berg for Congress 2006
When I first read about this in the newspaper it was like a breath of fresh air–the only voice of reason I had heard all day. While the mainstream media was busy jubilantly celebrating the killing of al-Zarqawi, I was feeling increasingly ill-at-ease. What a great victory for the U.S., to have killed an infamous terrorist that our actions had helped to create! Veangence and violence are the solutions to everything!
Then I read that the father of a direct victim of the terrorist in question felt very much as I did.
It was very heartening and reaffirming to me. Michael Berg was my hero-of-the-day. We need more Americans like him!
