Remarks on the floor of the U.S. House, March 15, 2007:

This House cannot avoid its Constitutionally authorized responsibility to restrain the abuse of Executive power.

The Administration has been preparing for an aggressive war against Iran. There is no solid, direct evidence that Iran has the intention of attacking the United States or its allies.

The US is a signatory to the UN Charter, a constituent treaty among the nations of the world. Article II, Section 4 of the UN Charter states, “all members shall refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. . .” Even the threat of a war of aggression is illegal.

Article VI of the US Constitution makes such treaties the Supreme Law of the Land. This Administration, has openly threatened aggression against Iran in violation of the US Constitution and the UN Charter.

This week the House Appropriations committee removed language from the Iraq war funding bill requiring the Administration, under Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution, to seek permission before it launched an attack against Iran.

Since war with Iran is an option of this Administration and since such war is patently illegal, then impeachment may well be the only remedy which remains to stop a war of aggression against Iran.

  1. Someone with the guts to suggest the only possible solution at this point, impeach Bush and his cronies! Put reason back in the white house. Save at least some of the young boys we have sent over there to fight Bush’s war. We want you to know that you have our support. Thankyou

  2. I do wonder how many Republican OR Democratic Senators/Representatives visited our wounded veterans at Walter Reed over the last four years. It took this long to notice how horrendous the situation was there?

    Ultimately, however, as with all things, the buck stops in the Oval Office.

    And once more, whether asleep at the wheel, derelict of duty or just plan not giving a damn, this President has been an abysmal failure on all accounts. Some failure is not impeachable, but chronic neglect of all things important to the nation?

    Impeach.

  3. It is imperative that Bush and Cheney are impeached for all the lies they hae told about going into Iraq The Walter Reed Scandle was terrrible and an awful way to treat our troops. They knew about it.

  4. Time is long overdue to impeach Bush and Cheney for all the lies not to mention the Abu Brade torture and the Walrher scandel. The have destroyed our country.

    What will Dennis do if he does not get the nomination. Hint the Boston 2004 Convention sham should give you an answer.

    It does seem to be the ‘untethered to corporate interests’ liberals that die in ‘accidents’ or under suspicious circumstances, doesn’t it?

  7. I have been watching Kucinich for a long time. I have really appreciated his stand on depleted uranium. This action of his today finally convinced me that he is the most decent, honest candidate, and I went to his website and joined his volunteers.
    I find the Administration’s use of torture, its aggressiveness in the Middle East, and Attorney General Gonzales’ recent statement about the right of habeus corpus not being in the Constitution to be the tip of the iceberg of this fascist regime. Like many Americans, I believe that 911 was an “inside job” perpetrated in order to frighten the American people into supporting a take-over of the government. I hope Dennis will succeed in awakening the American people, and, to be honest, I fear for his safety. May God protect him and have mercy on us all.
