Update: CNN sources say, reporting live on the 24-hour news channel, that several Republicans in the Administration and outside have revealed a discussion underway about how effective Gonzales can be in moving the president’s agenda forward under the circumstances.
Gonzales will travel to Capitol Hill at the beginning of next week to explain firings of several US attorneys, CNN adds.
