I had the privilege of meeting Presidential candidate and former Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel at the National Impeachment Summit in New York earlier this year. At that time, he was considering his position on impeachment, and his campaign said they would inform me of his position as it was formulated.
Today, I spoke with Gravel’s Press Secretary and received a statement. He said, “Senator Gravel does support impeachment in the event that any wrongdoing has occurred at the executive level of President or Vice President. At this time the senator’s focus is firmly on the Iraq war, stopping the torture, and bringing the troops home now.”
Gravel’s position is further clarified by this statement from his campaign’s website, “Senator Gravel supports a congressional inquiry into whether or not George Bush has indeed overstepped his authority as president and broken the law. The inquiry would focus on the accumulation of any and all evidence that indicates wrongdoing and could then be used in criminal proceedings against the president.”
These statements were made despite his failure, during the recent presidential debate, to raise his hand when asked if he or any of the other presidential candidates were “willing to enter into Congressman Kucinich’s effort to impeach Vice President Cheney.”
George Bush and Condoleezza Rice have stated that they will ignore the Congress regarding the war, and that they plan on remaining in Iraq through their term in office. Also, historically it’s been shown that a President can find funds for war despite a lack of designated war funding from Congress. It’s Impeach for Peace’s position that in light of these facts, the only path towards brining our troops home is through the accountability that is impeachment. So, I applaud Gravel’s statements in support of impeachment, and hope that his focus on bringing the troops home leads him to become an even louder proponent of peace through justice.

i would have to agree that bush has done a awful job as president with the war gay rights our privacy our economy the poor people he has torn our country apart so i cant wait to get a new president and im hopping for gravel or kucinch as a gay person i want to marry my partner i love however i cant because of the way the united states is run as a person on low income its gotten rougher with bush in office ive lost some friends in the wrongful war the list goes on as im sure we are all affected by the bush adminstration but everyone in a little over a year that will change especially if we all vote and talk to our famliesand friends and anyone we can about voting for the right person for the job and educate people about this and all the issues

-A Patriot’s Message- The hammer falls on the Constitution of the United States of America. Our freedom and Democracy, our sovereignty as a nation is coming to an end (2010).
The politically appointed neoconservatives in Justice sneer at Habeas Corpus; Geneva Convention; worker, consumer, investor and environment protection; education; affirmative action; individual rights and “entitlements†like Social Security and health care.
The corporate neo-con conspirators (Establishment) have their own agenda of a New World Order; W.T.O; N.A.F.T.A; N.A.U; immigration; globalization and “free tradeâ€; military seizure of foreign oil fields; employing a private army of mercenaries and propagandist; “dealing†with Afghanistan Opium drug lords harboring Osama Bin Laden and financing Al Qaeda.
The ideal corporate model is “Communism†where individual freedom and democracy are mute. The board of directors rule. The corporate neo-cons hate our regulatory government, Constitution and Individual Rights.
Our Federal Government is purposely bankrupt by war/trade debt and the ideal corporate nation, China, are carrying trillions of dollars of our debt. Communist China and their junior corporate American partner’s technically own the “U.S.A†resulting in “Globalization†and loss of sovereignty. Mission accomplished. The surge strategy is not to win the war but to pump oil and further indebt U.S.A to Communist China. Patriots, sign on! Impeach Bush, Cheney and nullify their Supreme Court appointments!

All representatives- We are starting a list. I demand that you reaffirm your allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America and begin impeachment procedure against Bush, Cheney. If you do not, you will be branded a traitor. You’re either with U.S or against U.S.
Impeaching Bush, Cheney would not only save and cleanse the U.S.A but also bring our citizens together. Once again Americans would have pride and respect for their country. Impeachment of these neo-con criminals would vindicate the U.S.A with the rest of the world.
If these evil criminals win, they rule with slavery, secrecy, lies, fear, hate, torture, terror and violence.
Our Founding Fathers knew that this element would always try to destroy the U.S.A that is why we have a Constitution to keep this element in check. After 2010 under N.A.U. rule (after the people find out; neo-con corporate media guilty) there will be violence and war which will play into their hands, evil thrives in that environment.(Mexican Army)
What about the economy? (shake, shake) our economy is already destroyed, the economy is an inside game. We can compete as Americans, after we purge our government of the traitor politicians; do not let their defeatist strategy scare you. We can do it! All we need is enough courage. The longer we wait, the harder it will be to get it done. DO IT NOW PEACEFULLY!!
