MONTPELIER, Vt. — After weeks of debate outside the official chambers of the Statehouse, legislative action on resolutions seeking the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have been swift.
The House took little more than an hour Wednesday to dispatch a version of the resolution, rejecting it by a vote of 87-60. Just last Friday, the Senate only took about five minutes to adopt the same resolution.
But both accomplished the goal of advocates _ who ranged from schoolchildren to the elderly _ who have pressed so hard and for so long to persuade state lawmakers to take up the issues.
