When the A28 plan to spell “Impeach” with canoes had to be postponed on short notice due to the promised canoes being unavailable, several members of ImpeachForPeace.org gathered at the Lake Calhoun site to make sure those who didn’t get notification of this in time wouldn’t be left in the lurch at the lake. Given that the event had been postponed, we didn’t expect much of a turnout.
Arriving early, two members of IfP donned Gitmo outfits and got to their knees on opposite sides of seven signs spelling “IMPEACH.” A chain connected the two. Responses of passerbys were almost unanimously positive, although one woman paused long enough to grin and refer to the detainees as “idiots.” Several people stopped to chat about the importance of impeachment, and others called out expressions of support as they passed by.
Soon others arrived, and in short order the group began to march along Lake
Calhoun alternately flashing the words “IMPEACH” and “CHENEY!” Before
wrapping up, the group moved to a dock and posed for several photos from the
shore.
