“I would like to see the President removed.” -J. McNerney

Congressman Jerry McNerney, a freshman Democrat, is home this week to meet with constituents in places where they already shop, eat and recreate in a program called Congress at Your Corner.
[…]
When asked about impeachment he said, “the bottom line is we (Democrats) don’t have the votes to impeach the President, Congressman Waxman is looking into allegations, let the Committee of Oversight do their job, I would like to see the President removed.”

  1. If McNerney is your representative, start letting him know in no uncertain terms that as a matter of conscience and in keeping his oath of office he is duty bound to cosign H. Res. 333.

Who is going to do this?

You are the one you have been waiting for.

  2. Bush doesn’t want to wast “his money” helping the people of New Orleans, but he has no problem paying dick cheney’s privet army (Blackwater) and cheney’s buddies at (Halliburton). I’m afraid that if someone doesn’t do something soon, in November 08, with our real army in iraq, bush & cheney will say “we’re not ready to go, so take it up with blackwater, now pledge allegiance our new flag for the United States of exxon”.

Besides, I think that we should have a independent investigation of 9-11. the bush/chevey crew should be held accountable for their actions. There are to many unanswered questions for me. I’ve built steel framed buildings and they don’t pancake in near real-time, taking the steel with them. Larry Silverstein, the lease holder of the WTC has admitted on video that building #7 was pulled or brought down by controlled demolition. “But an inside job would involve thousands of people! How could they keep it a secret?” Counter-arguments, red herrings, speculations and false information. Your average German didn’t beleave that concentration camps existed until after WWII. “The New World Order” – An unsustainable system of permanent growth ultimately requires warfare, fraud, and mass manipulation. These are things cheney is a master at and bush is the son of an ex CIA director. Did you ever know the daughter of a preacher? Before discounting my opinion goto youtube.com and first search for blackwater or erik prince, after seeing what morons blackwaters are, search for 9-11. 30% plus of Americans think 9-11 was at least partially an inside job. If it was, bush and cheney should not only be impeached, but prosecuted for Treason along with the corporate officers and everyone else involved!!

  3. There likely will never be “enough votes” to impeach Bush in the absence of any charges. Let the numerous charges against him be published offically in an impeachment document of some sort so that Republicans are forced to explain
why they’re not voting to impeach and things will change — fast!

  4. Impeachment is far too soft of a punishment for the things that Bush has done. His lying to the congress, to the American people, and to the world, is a far worse crime and he should be arrested, legally tried, legally convicted, and legally put into Leavenworth Prison for the remainder of his life, or legally executed if that is allowable by our laws for the crime of TREASON. And, in my opinion, by virtue of his actions, and what he has done, TREASON is the crime, or crimes, that he HAS committed.

  5. The value of impeachment does not lie in bring the process to what seems to be its’ telos or intended end. The mere fact that this process could be the begining of a serious high visability inquiry into propriety of this administration’s behavior would make it an invaluble educational exercise for our nation.

Remember also, we are a common law nation. Precident means so much to our national future. So, a refusal to formally call into question the legality of cerain actions by this president allows a certain legitimazation to many past unconstitutional actions.

For the sake of our nation, the loyal opposition cannot afford to ‘wait it out” as some political strategists might suggest. Will future president’s engage in similar behaviors (and worse ones, too) while asserting, if “x” is so illegal, why did an opposition controlled congress refuse to call such acts into question back in the first decade of this century? Why indeed!

By the way, have we forgotten? Cabinet members are subject to impeachment, too.

  6. What people are NOT aware of is how far along those Corporate/Zionist/Fascist Plans to takeover America are:
    http://www.conservativeusa.org/cog-ronpaul.htm
“Continuity of Government” – A Threat to the Constitution
    by U.S. Rep.. Ron Paul
This COULD MEAN Dictatorship in Nov ’08 — this COULD preempt the ‘need’ to steal another election.
National Security Presidential Directive/NSPD 51″ and “Homeland Security Presidential Directive/HSPD-20.” http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/05/20070509-12.html

Contrary to McNerney’s PHONEY statement the DEMS are deliberately STALLING any move to stop the war and/or impeach…. stalling BECAUSE they are owned and kneel to the SAME Corporate-Gods as the Repubs! —and what those Corporate-Gods want those very very longterm Contracts for Iraq’s OIL.

I say that McNerney is a bald faced liar when he ‘says’ he’d like to see the Pres removed!! IF he actually would like that all he would have to do is enter it on the Floor……… he is a flat-out liar, and you’re welcome to tell him I said so! SO IS CONYERS!! and of the 38 co-signers Conyers had BEFORE the election (which led us to elect most of them) every single one who co-signed AND CONYERS reneged and now refuse to even discuss impeachment. Conyers has BURIED all the signatures on petitions he had.

Ron Paul is a conservative constitutionalist republican. Chuck Hagel is another – yet Hagel came out on national TV saying that the ‘neo-cons’ have hijacked the Republican Party. Both of these Republicans have more guts than the entire Democratic Congress! (they’ll both be erased by the Corporate Media now) Pelosi is 100% supporter of AIPAC, she & Hillary and most of the other canidates are American Zionists!

What we need is a THIRD PARTY!

What we all CAN do right now is SHUN the Dems! Do not give them a nickel when they hit you up for campaign funds! THEN, when they can see that we ARE serious about the Nov mandate they IGNORED — by the time the primaries roll around they will remember who they are supposed to be working for! “We, the People” don’t count for diddly to EITHER Partys… only the Corporate Candy-men matters to them!

    A POX on them all!

  7. Pat: So, your party would rather win elections than do what’s right for the country? I hope you’re wrong. I also hope the public is willing to throw additional support to any party that holds our elected officials accountable for their actions. This has been historically true with every single impeachment effort launched. And this impeachment effort would begin with majority support (unlike most past impeachments including Nixon).

All we need is a majority of support in the House. And 2/3rds vote in the Senate to remove Bush from office will happen once the evidence gets aired on the floor of the House, and subsequently the national media outlets. The political pressure will become too great.

Today’s impossibility is tomorrow’s reality. Republican Congress members will realize that tying their political future to Bush reduces their chances of getting elected. Remember, one way or another, Bush is gone by 2009— but members of Congress may retain their offices beyond that date. Bush’s poll numbers are extremely low, and most Americans support impeachment. This is a bipartisan movement. This means that if we make the pressure unbearable for Members of Congress, they’ll turn on him to keep their own seats (like they did with Nixon). It’s already starting to happen. While many Members of Congress have behaved unethically in the last few years, it’s important to understand that this is related to their warped view of what’s in their self-interest. Let’s wake them up to their true self-interest (impeaching the president), by showing them our support for impeachment.

And even if we only impeach, and the Senate fails to do their duty and remove him from office, it will only implicate the Senators who fail to do their sworn Constitutional duty.

  8. IT seemed so easy to impeach Clinton. Why is it so difficult to do the same to Bush?

  9. To bushgottogo

Don’t forget to add the Iraq War as a reason to impeach Cheney and Bush, though calling them the mass murderers they are would not sit well for the uninformed which are the people that still give Cheney and Bush positive marks.

  10. Impeachment – Won’t happen no matter how much we rise up we can’t even get 60 votes to get a bill through, how are we going to get 67 votes to impeach. Total waste of time lets just focus on getting the white house, maintaining the house and adding more seats in the senate. Also, No matter what we do we are going to be in the this stupid war till he leaves because congress is basically gutless. Prove me wrong, It takes congressional votes to accomplish anything – we simply don’t have them period.

  11. The difference between the war defunding strategy and the impeachment strategy? Ahhhh, the president can’t veto an impeachment. Whole different dynamic.

  12. If the Democrats’ desire to impeach Bush is anything like their pledge to end the Iraq war, we might be looking at a scenerio where Waxman uncovers absolute evidence of malfeasance, and the Democrats—aware that Bush will be unhappy with an impeachment proposal —offer a resolution contingent upon Bush’s voluntary cooperation to be removed, with no time table .

The Democrats’ press relase will state how they stood strong on their pledge to hold Bush accountable.

  13. WTF? Where’s The Fili, buster? Followed by filing the Articles OF IMPEACHMENT! NOTHING happens unless you TRY!

  14. I’ve been a Republican since Jimmy Carter bit me in the butt, left the Dem’s and never looked back UNTIL 2006, after 6 years of George Bush biting me in the butt. Except the obvious wedge issues I see no difference in the parties. I voted dem’s in 2006 and encouraged many Repub’s to do the same SPECIFICALLY TO IMPEACH BOTH OF THEM. I do not agree with Dem’s on amnesty, and the road to amnesty leads to the very same end George Bush & Co is taking us eroding our Constitution. Chertoff & Giuterrez exclaim “who [which country] get’s ‘the people’…they’re coming now for free!” http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/news/20070524/1a_lede24_dom.art.htm
For those who haven’t figured out the amnesty agenda, read the SPP documents by IBM, just one of the “corporations” working on the NAU project…”We the people”, are “Human Capital” for the Corporate & elite…you think the illegals are the only ones who will be ‘serving’ the elite? You better think again. Not one mention of the words people, citizens, but “Human Capital” from all 3 nations; Canada, Mexico & US. We need to impeach these 2, and yes Cheney first, but we also need to take very close looks at all these people we’re allowing to ‘rule’ our lives.

  15. If they do not impeach the worst president (Bush) in the history of the US, there is no justice in the world. Let’s see: He flys back from vacation to sign a bill on a Sunday to keep a brain dead woman on a machine for 15 years. He stayed on vacation for about 50% of the time after the supreme court appointed him dictator and ignored the 911 warnings. He has let Osama been good to bush go free for 6 years. When the huricane hit, he stayed on vacation for another 5 days. Gas prices have gone up almost 3X since he took office. The debt is up 6X and tax breaks for those making more than $1 M is up 30%.

If the Dems want to show they can get tough, they need to impeach Bush so the world can move on.
