Al Gore opposes any attempt to impeach Bush

Former US vice president Al Gore, a staunch critic of George W Bush, has said he doesn’t agree with calls for impeaching the president due to lack of “time” and “consensus.”Many democrats feel that Bush should be impeached for allegedly misleading the country deliberately in the lead up to the war in Iraq.

“With a year and a half to go in his term and with no consensus in the nation as a whole to support such a proposition, any realistic analysis of that as a policy option would lead one to question the allocation of time and resources,” Gore said during an interview with PBS.

  1. Gore made similar statements against impeachment a couple nights ago on a late night show (Jay Leno?). I was very disappointed and disheartened. Now I really really only like Kucinich!!

  2. i’m afraid that using the scarce resources lens on this issue is short-sighted. there is really no good excuse whatsoever to allow cheney/bush to go on, still (!!!) without consequence for their illegal actions. true democracy seems to be what’s scarce in this nation…and it’s time people who care about democracy stand up for what matters, regardless of who says what.

  3. I researched this last night, and found the original story was from NewsMax. It said that Gore made the statement during a PBS interview. I couldn’t find that interview on PBS, so I question whether this report is accurate or if Gore made any such statement.

He just published his book “The Assault on Reason” which criticizes Bush, so I have to wonder about the veracity of the NewsMax or the report derived from it at dnaindia.com.

  4. I would of voted for Mr. Gore until I realized he was so chicken hearted. Bill Clinton only had 24 months left when he was impeached for getting a bj. George W is allowing our troops to be killed every day. What is more important, getting rid of these meatballs or allowing the deaths to continue? I think it is getting rid of these meatballs. We need to show the rest of the world that these morons don’t represent most Americans! plain and simple!

  5. Al Gore says we shouldn’t spend our resources Impeaching? He once again shows his lack of back-bone when it comes to Bush. Just like back in 2000. Nothing new there. Perhaps he has Stockholm Syndrome? Too bad we can’t have an intellectual candidate with good environmental policies, plus a spine.
