Put Your Name in the Congressional Record in Support of Impeachment care of Dennis Kucinich

afterdowningstreet.org

Congressman Dennis Kucinich plans to enter into the Congressional Record every day that Congress is in session 5 single-spaced pages of names (and states) of supporters of impeaching Vice President Dick Cheney. That’s the maximum amount the rules permit a congress member to enter per day. Needless to say, it will take a great many days to enter everyone’s name, if it can ever be done. To have your name (and state, but no other identifying information) included, all you need to do is sign the petition at: www.impeachcheney.org

This proposal came about on Thursday when representatives of AfterDowningStreet.org and ImpeachforPeace.org spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with various Congress Members and their staffers. ImpeachforPeace.org has collected hand-written memorials in support of impeachment, following a precedent detailed in the Jefferson Manual. The individuals who have submitted these memorials will also have their names entered into the Congressional Record.

Thursday’s lobbying efforts (which will be continued on Friday) encountered a Congress edging closer and closer to pursuing impeachment. Congressional offices expressed growing awareness of the demand for impeachment, and of the public’s dissatisfaction with steps short of impeachment, as well as growing frustration with Bush and Cheney’s lawlessness.

  1. “WE THE PEOPLE” NEED TO HAVE BUSH/CHENEY IMPEACHED FOR THE SAKE OF AMERICA, AND HUMANITY. PLEASE DO THE JOB YOU SIGNED UP FOR. PEACE

  2. I can’t help but think of Bush and Cheney as a couple of paranoid school yard bullies who have no business making any decisions that effect other peoples lives. The fact their in office just illustrates how gullible we can be at times. And how cowardly congress can be.

  3. Impeach Cheney, Bush, Gonzales, and anyone else who places him or herself above the law. It’s not a matter of the votes to convict. It is a matter of conscience, the law, and the preservation of the Constitution.

  4. “Impeach Cheney first; then the rest. I don’t care if the bobble-head Republicans in the Senate don’t convict him or the rest of these Neocon crooks. At least “we the people” will have sent a message regarding who works for who.”

YES, YES AND A THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!

That is a principled stand and exactly why we of IFP do not waver for a moment with the ebb and flow of public and political opinion.

We do this because it is right.

  5. I am a 23 year old mother of two. I do not have a hi-paying job however I feel that I have an importante one. I have been striving to teach my oldest child values and morals. How is she to learn any of that when the men responsable for ALL of us act in such a careless and callous ways? The saddest part is that it isn’t only with the laws of our country that they have NO regard for; it’s the people themselves. Throwing away the lives of brave and honorable men and women? Do Bush and Cheney have the slightest idea of what the words honor and bravery mean? My father was in the military and I know that if he had been called, without a single complaint he would have rushed to protect US, as all of our brave troops have done. Regardless of how they feel they stand and fight and yet I don’t think that Bush and Cheney even lose sleep over the thousands that they have pointlessly sent to their graves, let alone the millions of families they have wronged on BOTH sides. I fear the day that my children will have to suffer and pay for the wrong doings of these corrupt men of power. I can only hope that my words along with the words of all of you can help to make things right before things get any worse.

  6. Impeach Cheney first; then the rest. I don’t care if the bobble-head Republicans in the Senate don’t convict him or the rest of these Neocon crooks. At least “we the people” will have sent a message regarding who works for who.

  7. The Bush Crime Family began with terrorizing fifty thousand black voters away from the polls in Florida, Nov’00…accordingly, Jeb Bush & Kathleen Harris, et al belong in Leavenworth for those felonies….the gang of 5 on the US Sup Ct which lied to declare that Bush is a protected minority of one with “the right” to not have votes counted against him….those 5 belong in Leavenworth Prison….Bush allowed 9/11 & did not take steps to freeze perpetrators assets, instead he facillitated the removal of Saudi blood money out of the country… for this he & Cheney belong in Leaenworth… for his lies that weapons grade uranium was being bought from Nigeria & outing Valerie Plame who was married to the guy who said Bush was lying … BUSH & SCOOTER et al belong in prison

  8. It is important to note that there are 33 comments on this post in the first 24 hours and 18 “Diggs”.

reddit has this article locked down at zero and has from the very first minutes of it going online.

We are finding impeachment-related posts get ‘downmoded’ at a low number with reddit.

Anyone know who owns reddit or how to get ahold of them?

  9. It’s up to we the people to take our country back. It is clear that, with the exception of a few people in the congress, the will of the people is not being represented. What is going on in the white house is nothing short of criminal. We need to impeach the whole gang now!

  10. No more Secret Society of Skull & Bones – Order of Death ! They belong in prison not the WhiteHouse !

  11. What is Congress waiting for? Impeach both Dick Cheney & George Bush. They have flagrantly violated laws, lied to the American people and our Allies. They have disregarded the UN and the Geneva Conventions. Our civil liberties are being stripped away daily. Congress was willing to impeach President Clinton about lying about an affair with an aide but does not want to impeach the men who brought us to war with Iraq with lies and falsehoods. If they don’t impeach, I suggest that we charge Cheney, Bush, & Rice with war crimes and try them like the Nazis.

  12. I second the call by Rev. Albert K Jungers, to the house judiciary committee to proceed with articles of impeachment not just against Cheney, but Bush as well. I see no use in cleaning only one room of a filthy vermin infested shack, which is exactly what the Bush administration is from the top to the bottom.

  13. “WAR” PROFITEERS, WON’T PULL-OUT !!
KNOW WHO & WHAT YOU VOTE FOR !!

The Cronyism from the very beginning of the
attack and invasion of Iraq still exist, and the
profits from nothing done is still pouring into
the pockets of the Corrupt. ANY official that
is opposed to bringing home the troops has
to be considering their own profits..

A tremendous amount of money on no bid contracts
comes right back to this administration and members
    of congress.

The secretly arranged contracts, and profiteering,
another part of the “organized crime” scheme.
Six contractors, all with ties to Bush/Cheney
    administration,Halliburton, Bechtel Group Inc,
    and several private security companies.
Those companies conduct war of aggression.
They are guns for hire, at a high profit for those
involved. Torture at prisons, intelligence gathering ??,
stalking the citizens carrying machine guns,
they are paid to train Iraqi’s, kill others, and are
a ubiquitous and offensive symbol of the US occupation. These guerillas make up more then 25%
of the occupation force in Iraq. Heavily armed
mercenaries, are paid several times more than our troops.

You need to know that they, unlike our military in Iraq, have complete immunity issued by the US Coalition. They preform the aggression Bush/Cheney
wants, crucial military jobs once entruxted to the military. They guard the US officials , and key locations in Iraq. Why!! seems they do not have to answer to the congress or any law. 25% of the money being spent, goes to these security companies. Blackwell, best known has 450 personnel, some at $1,500 a day.Blackwater also employs 60 Chilean ex-commandos who were trained under the Pinochet dictatorship.
The American firm DynCorp has a $50 million contract to train Iraqi police officers.
The firm USA Environmental has teams of weapons and explosive experts in Iraq and a $65 million contract to collect and destroy unexploded ordinance.Vinnell, a subsidiary of Northman Grumman, has a $48 million contract to assist in the training of a new Iraqi Army.Erinys has the $100 million-plus annual contract to provide security at Iraq’s oil facilities and pipelines.Erinys employs some 14,000 Iraqi security guards on wages of $150 per month, supervised by dozens of former British and apartheid-era South African military. The secrecy surrounding the operations is enabling the White House to obscure the actual cost in terms of men and casualties it is taking to sustain the illegal occupation of Iraq.

Together six of the many companies contracted in Iraq contributed $3.6 million to federal election campaigns, 85% to Republicans, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. HOW MUCH
more from others is still a secret.

Call it what it is favoritism, collusion, and war profiteering. WE SUPPORT OUR TROOPS,
    BRING THEM HOME.

Ask why no over-site, no accountibility. WHO is
profitting from the losses. 3800 DEAD. THOUSANDS
wounded. (American troops) 700,000 Iraqi civilians
    killed, thousands wounded, millions relocated.

This has not been to liberate. It is to occupy and
    profit.

NOW, will you get angry with the rest of us.
Is this what you neo-cons jumped in for. Is this
your faith at work ?? Do you support this profiteering
by organized crime, Bush/Cheney & friends. AIPAC
    & Israel…????????????????????????

    “What they
    call our government”.

Look at all 67-70 UN resolutions against Israel,
and the VETO votes by the USA.

This is what is called “International Organized Crime”.

How do we attemt to stop it. Impeach Bush/Cheney,
and force AIPAC to register as a foreign lobby.
Insist on reform of Government, Foreign Policy,
and Campaign reform. Public funds only.

  14. Dear Mr. Kusinich and other members of Congress,
Time and again Mr. Cheney has put himself above the Constitution of the United States of America, Congress and the American people. He took an oath to uphold the Constitution, not to find a way around it when it suits him. He and others knowingly and willfully misrepresented the need to invade Iraq to Congress and the American people. He has refused to cooperate with the US Congress on every level. The Congress is trying to represent the will of the American people whom they serve and Mr. Cheney has obstructed the Congress’s ability to do so with arrogance and a total lack of respect. This is not the government our forefathers fought and died for. Take our country back!

  15. The damage done by this administration is enormous. Our reputation throughout the world
has been irreparably damaged. We are in a more danerous situation than ever before,
as well as facing huge deficits while our country’s resources are being plundered.
The whole administration is a disgrace!

  16. Impeach now!! Bush and Cheney are criminals–guilty of war crimes and attacks on our civil liberties. They should be prosecuted.

  17. The Bush/Cheney administration (reign is more like it!!) is the most corrupt one that this country has ever exeperienced. They are guilty of so many things, including war crimes and an erosion of our civil liberties. Impeachment is only the first step. They should be prosecuted.

  18. Impeach the bad apples. Do it for the children, they deserve decent roll models, and cheney, bush, and gonzolus are not. Shame on these men and all those who enable them.

  19. Cheney thinks he is a demi-god and is untouchable. He has to be the worst Vice-President in the history of our country. People who stand to gain millions in politics should never be there is the first place.

  20. The impeachment of Bush and Cheney must take place if America is to recover from the moral bankrupty this most “right wing administration in living memory” has caused. I put my faith in the good, hard working people of America who must unite around bringing justice, truth and eventual reconciliation into being. Indeed America’s future and relationship with the rest of the world demands nothing less. In memory of the countless lives destroyed by these megalomaniacs in their fruitless pursuit of securing the world’s energy supplies for themselves and their supporters.

  21. The U.S. economy is not as American friendly as it once was, and the downturns began with NAFTA, and a precedent setting election that shiften Congress during 1994 into Republican hands. Yet, this was nothing compared to the economic sabatage that has taken place between 2000 and 2007. The average American cannot get a job that pays a living wage anymore, and more and more privatization and outsourcing has eliminated some good American job opportunities in U.S. Gov. positions. Also, aside from the obvious, the cronyism and favoritism has demeaned the concept of equality. Can somebady say Malfeasance?

Of course these are not the only reasons that are available for advocates of impeachment. This administration has filandered billions of dollars for the IRAQ war; they have let our own EPA become infiltrated by corporate-industrial executives and lawyers that sabotage it from within; they have made a mockery of the U.S. immigration system by creating the Dept. of Homeland Security, and then leaving significant leadership positions within it vacant under the pretext of not finding qualified candidates for appointment (not to many loyal robots left to choose from); They have shaken the credibility of the DOJ via partisan appointments for which to promote their hidden agendas; and, last but not last; they couldn’t even catch Bin Laden and have invaded Iraq in hopes of creating the illusion of winning the war on terror, while at the same time making the profits of their fat cat corporate buddies increase on the backs of American citizens serving in the military; hence, making a bad thing worse, while Osama is still public enemy number one, at large.

One last thing: This current Executive administration can be held accountable like everyone else, and this crap with the recent Congressional testimonies needs to stop. There are too many inconsistencies, and these answers of I don’t know, I can’t remember, and I can’t answer that question, are sure signs of contempt considering the ethical and legal-constitutional precedents underlying them in context.

  22. The Bush/Cheney philosphy of life on planet earth as ‘Forever War’is self-serving and violates the laws of earth and the cosmos. Their modus operandi is impractical, inappropriate, unachievable and unconscious. In the end the laws of the universe will not allow it to stand because it thrives on darkness. It cannot survive in the Light.

  23. I am ashamed to be an American for the first time in my life!!! This administraton has made us a laughing stock across the world. Alert Americans are crying tears of rage.

  24. Impeach Bush and Cheney….they are dictators and consider themselves above the law. They also got us into the Iraq war for their concerns about oil production because they themselves have personal ownership in oil. We were supposed to be fighting terrorism against the Taliban in Pakistan but some how we ended up in Iraq where the oil is located. They are liars and deceitful people. They have shamed our country!

  25. Impeachment would be a nice start, leveling charges against the whole administration is called for as well, including a full investigation into the events of 911 and everything thereafter this administration has had their hands in and a full reversal of 90% of the laws passed since they have come to power. Never have the rights and wallets of the American people been raped so thoroughly. Clinton whom I am no fan of was impeached on perjury charges, the list of impeachable charges seems to grow and grow with time against this administration, who couldn’t do what they do without the backing of a majority of congress. Congress will not act. The American people have never had their eyes opened more as to the true intent and loyalties of the administration and the congress. It seems special interests have come to own the government that should be representing the people. I think congress failure to act will lead to the implosion of the federal government under it’s own weight if someone does not act soon.

  26. It is high time that congress, the house and senate vote to impeach these two imposters and criminals. To not impeach them is equivalent to supporting their lies, malfeasance and felonious behavior. George Bush and Dick Cheney make Richard Nixon look like child’s play…Nixon was tiptoeing around the hen house late at night feeling guilty and ashamed….these two thugs have taken the roof off in broad daylight and are gobling chickens whole…with their talons firmly planted in the viscera of the anaesthetized working classes these two golems continue to desecrate the constitution and sacrifice the innocent young to their dark dreams of power and control.

  27. besides impeachment we must reverse all of the rediculous powers given to the executive branch that have been included in the last 6 years, thank you

  28. Illegal war, illegal wiretapping, illegal actions in the Justice Department, illegal “executive orders,” illegal “signed statements.” What more reasons do we need to kick out Bush and Cheney?

  29. Save America and its citizens from the monarchy of Bush and Cheney!! Impeach them both NOW!!

  30. The citizens of the USA have to take into their own hands how to handle the illegal disregard of our nation’s laws under the admininistration of VP Dick Cheney and P George Bush.
It is our responsibility to make sure our constitution’s laws are upheld. In the light of the illegalities of this admininstration’s actions I wish to add my name to impreachment investigations of Dick Cheney

  32. Impeach President Bush and Vice President Cheney. Stop all funding for the war. Indict Gonzales NOW.

Now vacations for Legislature until all is completed.

  33. Impeach Executive Branch. No more waiting for Godot. The Gonzales’ hearings are a mark of the corrupt and incompentance of the President and Staff.

  35. I urge the House Judiciary Committee to proceed with articles of impeachment, the crimes are well known throughout the world. Not to act is tantamount to saying there is no longer any rule of law in the United States.
