Torture Theatre Calls For Bush Impeachment

MADISON, Wis. — Torture played out on the streets of Madison on Monday.
It was part of a staged street theatre put on by the Madison Impeachment Coalition and Impeachforpeace.org of Wisconsin. The performance was designed to protest the treatment of prisoners in U.S. custody at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Individuals dressed in orange jumpsuits, black hoods and chains called for basic human rights. It was a protest of what the groups call impeachable offenses by the Bush administration.
“They include kidnapping and torture and an illegal war and I think in order to save our democracy and preserve the rule of law we have to make these actions by this administration, there has to be accountability,” said Don McKeating with Impeachforpeace.org.
Monday was the first of three days of the street protest.
The groups said their goal is to gather signatures to petition the city council and Dane County Board of Supervisors to pass a resolution calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
