Reid: Gonzales’ Resignation Won’t End Investigations

…Under Gonzales and Bush, “the Department of Justice suffered a severe crisis of leadership that allowed our justice system to be corrupted by political influence,” said Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., who has presided over the investigation into the firings of eight prosecutors whom Democrats say were axed for political reasons.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said the investigation would not end with Gonzales’ leaving.

“Congress must get to the bottom of this mess and follow the facts where they lead, into the White House,” said the Nevada Democrat.

  1. Kevin, Kevin, Kevin…

The politicizing occurred when U.S. Attorneys were fired simply for not being ‘loyal Bushies’ in not prosecuting paper mache voting fraud issues (people voting multiple times, dead people voting, etc.) and going after ACTUAL election fraud cases (voter suppression, voting tabulation irregularities, etc.).

If the goal is voting integrity and honest government, why are you so up in arms about these investigations?

Might it be that your lockstep, brownshirt partisan loyalty has blinded you to the desire for the higher goals of truth and justice?

  2. Sounds like the Dem’s are all excited about a dead issue. They are the ones that politicized the Justice Department in their investigation. They are not doing their job in congress with oversight, they are pandering to groups that line their pockets. They are making the same mistakes the Repub’s did when they controlled congress. Where is the oversight on their activities?
