Today was terrific. Ten active Coalition members showed up, most of us wearing Impeach tee-shirts. This was on about 18 hrs. notice for a middle-of-the-day meeting. We passed out the flyers informing the mainly seniors present what Debbie’s position is on impeachment.
I gave her staffer Lori a folder containing 1) Flyer showing that the party that impeaches wins the next election; 2) the 11/12 American Research Poll showing that 63% of Democrats favor impeachment of Cheney; and 3) 6 excerpts from the Constitution dealing with Impeachment.
In the Q & A Lori, who knew exactly who I was having met her when I sat in the lobby of Aventura City Hall reading the Constitution aloud, was the person going around with the mike and she brought the mike to me. I held up my pocket size Constitution and told Debbie that she took an oath to defend the Constitution and that she is not doing that. Another Coalition member was called on and said, “Debbie, you said that the President lied us into a war; isn’t that an impeachable offense?” Two other people who were not in our group asked great questions about impeachment. The audience was very receptive with the exception of the usual political lackeys who know Debbie from campaigns.
Nicole Sandler was there, but I don’t know if she tape recorded the session. After the Q & A, the usual crowd went up to the podium and Bonnie Daniels made a number of points to her. At least one other member got in a few good points. Nicole Sandler talked to her at length. I think a lot of their conversation had to do with the day that Debbie was on air with both Nicole and Ed Schultz. Debbie was clearly uncomfortable with the discussion on impeachment and her excuses are looking less and less credible, especially with the Plame-connected treason being common knowledge. I wish there had been a recording because I think she went so far at one point as to imply that perhaps the offenses weren’t impeachable. It was very frustrating listening to her. |
