With record turnout last night to the DFL (Democratic Farmer-Labor) Party precinct caucuses all over the Twin Cities, impeachment resolutions passed in a number of areas. In my precinct in Senate District 62, Precinct 11/7, the small group that remained until the end of a long night voted narrowly to pass my very strongly worded resolution in support of efforts to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.

Barrack Obama won our highly progressive and very involved precinct’s support 355-120 over Hillary Clinton and went on to resoundingly win Minnesota’s delegates as well. Last caucus 170 people voted in total so this represents a huge increase in voter participation.

I received a phone call from Tom Lobello this morning who reported that his similar impeachment resolution, taken directly from our website, had passed resoundingly by voice vote in SD 58, Precinct 4/6 in ‘Nordeast’ Minneapolis.

Impeach for Peace cofounder Jodin Morey had similar success at his St. Paul caucus, stating:

“Mine passed (ST. PAUL W-3 P-12). I don’t have an exact count, but it was about 70-4!!!
I also had a friend in MINNEAPOLIS W-13 P-03 who indicated their impeachment resolution passed. Another friend reported a UNANIMOUS passing of an impeachment resolution in ST. PAUL W-4 P-16.

Kristin Rafferty checked in from another area of St. Paul with good news as well:
“I had the resolution from your website all printed up and ready to go. All I had to read was “Resolution to Impeach Richard B. Cheney” and before I began to read anything more, the whole room loudly voted in favor. One man in the room said, “How about indictment?” The guy running the meeting pointed out that he remembered me bringing forward that same resolution at one of the last caucuses I attended.”

It turns out that Ms. Rafferty had introduced an impeachment resolution four years ago that had also been unanimously passed.

From Soren Sorenson:
“Mine passed in SD 61 Precinct 6-4, I saw it submitted in Precinct 6-5 as well, and expect someone took it to precinct 6-3. I doorknocked and talked impeachment in Comstock Hall yesterday, and I hope students took the resolution to caucus at Coffman Union. Another friend who attended my pre-caucus feed was going to caucus at Wiley Hall, so that should equal multiple submission sites in SD 59.

My mom took one to SD 40 Precinct 1-10 (Bloomington) and it was amended during debate to also include the impeachment of President Bush and it passed.
I had hundreds of website hits from around the state, and I e-mailed out the link to where the resolution could be downloaded to people across the state in every congressional district.
I am on the pre-convention resolutions committee for SD 61.”

“Mikael, this is Delia Jurek reporting from Center City MN. After spirited discussion we PASSED!!! an impeachment resolution, unanimously, which I authored. I am also a delegate, hoping to spur it forward. Center City is in the 8th Congressional District, Senate District 17, legislative Dist. 17B,precinct 15. I was WOWed. I am calling Oberstar, my representative, today to tell him of this and ask him to support Kucinich and Wexler work to get this before the judiciary. See you in DFL convention. Thanks for your work.Power to the People!! ”

Another one found online:
Minneapolis, MN:
She said there had been a motion submitted and passed to impeach Bush (merely symbolic, but inspiring), as well as one for restrooms for the Airport Taxi employees (“Let ’em piss!” cheered one supporter).”

This page will be updated as others report in. Please e-mail me at: [email protected] if you have any news of how impeachment resolutions fared around Minnesota and around the rest of the country.

This from Colorado:
“Being a recent transplant to Colorado, not only had I never caucused before but I had never even lived in a state that held caucuses before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Nevertheless things went pretty smoothly overall, given the circumstance of a turnout that was a little too much for the location to handle.

[…]

After the presidential vote there were a few other items of business, but most people didn’t stick around for that, nor did I after a certain point. The interesting thing about this part is that you can vote on party resolutions, which are just basically statements that are supposed to influence the policy positions of the democratic party in your district, and on up the chain, etc. You can introduce resolutions there at that time, but there are also ones that are already prepared. I wasn’t prepared for this, and thus didn’t introduce anything. But, this seems like a good opportunity for introducing a resolution on separation of church and state, which is something that I will keep in mind for the future. The obligatory “Impeach Bush and Cheney” resolution came up, which got resounding cheers, 100% support, and a few chants of “send ’em to prison”.”

  1. I forwarded the impeachment resolution to some friends. Here is an e-mail response I received from my friend in Minneapolis:

“…I printed this [impeachment resolution] out as a DFL resolution and submitted it at the ward 1 precinct 6 caucus for senate district 5, house district 59a – and it got approved! So it will join others submitted around the state at the next level of conventioneering. A worthy gesture to an unworthy office holder…”

  2. Thank you Mikael!

    You say:

“We have made strategic choices to go after Mr. Cheney with the most readily palatable evidence.”

I respectfully disagree. The 9/11 evidence if far stronger than any other article or charge. The evidence now may be little known, BUT IT IS A MEGATON BOMB when delivered. I’d like you to consider adding it as YOUR “official policy,” ALONG SIDE of the Plame business, which ALSO is more powerful (to the American public) than anything about al Qaida, anything about Iraq or Iran. Those latter things seem abstract, but the Plame thing is very personal.

“Perhaps we have erred by omitting a lot of 9/11 truth evidence, but we have done so only to focus on the evidence that we have felt was most likely to have an effect on the public, make it through the corporate media veil and eventually stir the House Judiciary Committee to action.”

You have erred. No “perhaps”! I will not pretend that controversy won’t be stirred when the 9/11 evidence surfaces. But I will say this, the Plame thing carries FAR more EMOTION with it than the al Qaida lies the WMD lies, even, all the Iraq lies put together! Iran muddles it (the Kucinich bill) further, as that is prospective more speculative, than provable existing record. Kucinich missed the boat, imo, by limiting to the three specific articles in his bill, BUT WE don’t need to follow suit.

The Plame matter can be the fourth article and 9/11 treason and lies/obstruction of justice the fifth! If the Plame thing has resonance already with the American public by virtue of its having been pretty well exposed by Fitzgerald’s investigation and the trial and conviction, then commutation of part of Libby’s sentence, all of which got ample msm coverage — including the close involvement of the VP, then the seething power of the 9/11 revelations is arguably 1000x MORE explosive, once the people grasp (and GASP at) how they have been lied to and sheltered BY the msm from the full and awful truth! Wider knowledge about and discussiuon of the Mineta revelations gives us two birds with one stone, maybe three: Cheney is bagged, the msm is bagged and the commission is sacked as well! This will be like Cheney with a shootgun, only he himSELF, the msm and the 9/11 commission are Harry Whittington!

What I find compelling about using Cheney’s 9/11 acts and presumed lies about those acts in his testimony to the commission, as a LEVER for bringing 9/11 truth into focus, is that it holds up WHATEVER view of 9/11 a person holds now! This point cannot be clearer. You don’t have to know about or believe in controlled demolition of the three WTC buildings, don’t need to even KNOW there was a third one that came down at freefall speed never being struck by a plane. This isn’t about any “conspiracy theory” — this is ABOUT CHENEY, period!

“With the new book exposing Commission chair Zelikow as the installed Bush Administration shill that he was, perhaps the tide is shifting in favor of 9/11 truth coming to the light. I hope so. There is so much to lose by it remaining hidden and so much to gain by allowing it to be brought into the light.”

Yes, you are right. Philip Shenon, judging by the interview I have listened to twice through on Terry Gross’s WHYY/NPR “Fresh Air” on this past Monday, is unknowledgeable about 9/11 truth, BUT he exposes by his book MANY interesting and anomalous things that David Ray Griffin has not got access to, so it is a spur to a new investigation. Certainly it spurs — along side the CIA tape destruction matter raging in recent weeks — a new investigation of the shortcomings of the investigation!

I learned from an HJC insider (office of the chief counsel) a month ago that an oversight hearing involving the 9/11 commission’s work was already in the cards! The new spur of Shenon’s “Uncensored” book undoubtedly gives that added force. (How can the NYT NOT cover this!??) It is our chance to get the RIGHT QUESTIONS ASKED of the commissioners, for the RECORD, especially: WHAT DID CHENEY SAY WHEN HE TESTIFIED!? As he and Bush testified under their oaths of office, but without a transcript made, hearing several commissioners giving the same account of what the VP said will constitute a sworn record that then becomes the basis for the indictment we seek. By that point, it is not anything the msm can suppress.

And that is the biggest point I make: this IS THE LEVER to move the Cheney impeachment off the dime it’s now STUCK on. Plame alone may not move it. But Plame TOGETHER with the Cheney role on 9/11 is BINGO!

  3. Mr. Weis,

It is our honor to have you visit our site.

Add High Treason for Mr. Cheney ordering Scooter Libby, Karl Rove, Richard Armitage and Ari Fleischer to simultaneously ‘out’ non-official cover CIA operate Valerie Plame-Wilson to Matthew Cooper, Judith Miller and Robert Novak as an act of political retribution against her husband Joseph Wilson after Wilson blew the whistle on the Bush Administration’s lies about a Niger-Iraq Yellowcake Uranium sale. High Treason is the only name for outing an active U.S. Intelligence officer during wartime. What else could it be called?

Yes I am acutely aware of Mr. Mineta’s testimony being ignored by the 9/11 Commission’s report and the fact that Mr. Mineta’s testimony would have place Mr. Cheney in the bunker in time to have given the ‘stand-down’ order to NORAD allowing planes to proceed to the WTC Towers and the ignored testimony of an aide who said that Mr. Cheney snapped back to confirm his command when his orders were questioned. That same Mr. Cheney had pre-arranged simultaneous war games that kept the majority of Andrews AFB fighters out of range during the attacks and filled radar screens with false blips through out the day – this the first time a Vice President had taken upon himself authority that had always been in the hands of the Pentagon previously.

Don’t think I did not notice, Sir.

We have made strategic choices to go after Mr. Cheney with the most readily palatable evidence. Perhaps we have erred by omitting a lot of 9/11 truth evidence, but we have done so only to focus on the evidence that we have felt was most likely to have an effect on the public, make it through the corporate media veil and eventually stir the House Judiciary Committee to action.

With the new book exposing Commission chair Zelikow as the installed Bush Administration shill that he was, perhaps the tide is shifting in favor of 9/11 truth coming to the light. I hope so. There is so much to lose by it remaining hidden and so much to gain by allowing it to be brought into the light.

Thank you so much for what you are doing. Please send us articles of verifiable evidence of Bush Administration involvement in any criminal activity or involvement in the coverup of selfsame and we will publish it widely.

  4. Glad to see so much impeach Cheney action in MN.

Those who are really serious about moving this to hearings in the HJC need to consider the stronger action of adding a fourth article re 9/11 to the HR 333/799 Kucinich bill referred Nov 6 of last year.

Not too many are aware of Secretary of Transportration, Norman Mineta’s testimony to the commission, but once you see that, you know there is a charge of treason that can be deduced against the vice president. There is apparent obstruction of justice as well and lying to federal authorities.

Anyone interested in more details and an action plan, please contact me at [email protected].

  5. Minneapolis is a very informed, educated, diverse and smart-voting city. Not radical left nor knee-jerk reactionary, just really thoroughly aware and active. Gotta love it.
