Opinion: David Swanson
The abuse inflicted on our nation by the current president and vice president makes a lot of people angry. Responding with violence would be foolish and counterproductive. Responding with an election might be cathartic, but would not solve the problem. The only response that can work is one that calls the crimes what they are and upholds the rule of law. If we had really gotten this right under Nixon or Reagan or Clinton, we might have prevented some of the same people involved back then from committing new offenses.
Raise your hand if you are a Republican who wants Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama to have the power to spy without warrants, detain without charges, torture, murder, and rewrite any law passed by Congress.

Bill,
The email address you gave us isn’t active.
Rebuilding America’s Defenses is the PNAC document with the infamous “New Pearl Harbor” quote:

Are you looking for the founding documents of PNAC?
I have noticed that a lot of sources have been pulled. The PNAC site it down – maybe permanently. PNAC closed down just recently, you know…
Good info site:

I am looking for the actual document for Project for a New American Century. It used to be posted on the neo-conservative think tank site, but I find now that my access is denied. This is for a book on these lunatics. If you can help please contact me at 631-357-3745 or by email at [email protected].
Thank you in advance.
Re #4:
That Italian was Benito Mussolini – the fascist dictator who joined with Hitler in the Nazi’s quest to take over Europe.
If Mussolini were leader of Italy today he would be a perfect Bush ally. Corporatist
Thom Hartmann is my very favorite Air America host of those broadcast in Minneapolis. He is a learned historian and I learn from him every time I listen to his program. He also often has opposing views on his show and holds his own – at the very least – in any debate with them.
His website: http://thomhartmann.com/
It would be a fine testiment to our times to finally call our leaders accountable for their war crimes just like Bush said he was going to hold Sadam responsible.
For an insightful, prophetic opinion of what the “Neo-Cons” have done to America, read Tom Hartman’s treatise of fascism… which includes profound quotes from Vice President Henry Wallace, from 1943. He warned that “fascism” would infiltrate America, using Religion and Patriotism to gain control of our government. Using their increasing control of the “Media”, they would install their “puppet” government to be controlled by corporate special interests. The Tom Hartman article also quotes some Italian who says that the proper “definition of fascism is more accurately corporatism”. Go to Tom Hartman.com
Is it possible for a person to make a “citizen’s arrest” of Bush or Cheney, and have them extradited to Vermont? There are probably thousands of people, (myself included), who would handcuff themselves to these criminals and declare a “citizen’s arrest”… (if the Secret Service didn’t shoot them first)
Paul,
Hatred is a bit off the mark. Disgusted? Yes. Horrified? Yes.
I believe that if you were more aware of the Constitutional damage done to our freedoms and liberties by the Bush Administration you would be less likely to defend them. How much do you know?
For example, the first Patriot Act was already complete BEFORE 9/11. It was not written in response to that attack. It was written and waiting for something to make its anti-American changes palatable to the American people and to Congress.
As the Project for a New American Century’s document “Rebuilding America’s Defenses” exposed the NeoCon’s desires, they got their “New Pearl Harbor” through which to terrify, indeed terrorize us into agreeing to hand over our precious freedoms and liberties.
Also: The Bush Administration’s unconstitutional domestic spying also happened PRIOR to 9/11.
Does that give you any insight into how much deception has been going on in regards to their true goals and motives?
It is interesting that some people have such hatred for demoratically-elected leaders of free countries. Do these people show the same hatred towards communists or other fascists?
