Impeachment Poem by Robert Leslie Palmer

High Crimes and Misdemeanors
by Robert Leslie Palmer

Is it not time to take a stand,
And from George Bush the truth demand?

Mangled corpses litter Iraq,
A charge their mortal words do pack.

Pronounced by dying lips these pleas:
There are and were no WMDs!

Evil lies did start this war,
And send our troops to foreign shore.

And now we know for what we toil:
It is no less than desert oil!

Congress also fails us now,
Daring not discharge its sacred vow.

Halliburton’s dollars made their way,
Leading not just George and Dick astray,

But also Congress as a whole,
For campaigns funded by its bankroll.

Unless we shout our discontent,
They will assume our mass assent.

Send them letters, send them mail,
Tell them that we will prevail.

History bids us take command
And from our leaders this demand:

Never falsely start a bloody war,
Or you will hear the people roar.

On the Bible you swore that you’d defend
Our Constitution from those who would offend.

Well, now’s the time to carry through
And bid George Bush a cold adieu!
