AUDIO-IfP on WRKO, Conservative Radio

invited me (Jodin Morey) to debate the issue of Impeachment on the air. The radio program caters to a conservative audience. While there have been notable conservatives that have come out on impeachment, this audience was negative on the idea for the most part. Also interviewed were organizers from Impeach07.org (David Swanson) and ImpeachBush-Cheney (Evan). Evan spoke in the first slot, followed by me, and David Swanson closing it out. Unfortunately, the host and audience weren’t terribly kind to Evan when he failed to have evidence to site regarding the charges against Bush. The audience I can understand, but some of the name calling by the Host were terribly inappropriate. I followed up with some of that evidence that was needed, and the show ended with David who gave the most eloquent political analysis. Enjoy.

P.S.: This post (along with most of the other impeachment posts on here) was knocked down immediately at Reddit.com despite a majority support for impeachment. Are neocon forces at work?

  1. To Evan: Yikes, that sounded painful. At this point in the program I’m pretty bewildered at how unfairly the “debate” is being run. It’s telling that as soon as you got your information ready, the ad hominem attacks came out in strength. To Jodin: Great job digging up the details before getting on the air, too bad this ass kept cutting you off and “creatively reinterpreting” your statements. David: Great job. I think the better voice-quality of your connection helps a lot. Where did you learn your speaking habits?

To all: I recommend “Fiasco” by Thomas Ricks. The first several chapters, especially, provide a lot of interesting information about the run-up to the war and the twisted evidence. The book is best described as a military history of the war between the election and the publishing date. And thank you all for your courage in getting on the right-wing radio — it takes guts to choose to interact in that medium.

For posterity, I think what we can all learn from Evan is seizing upon the part of the opponent’s argument that you agree with and using that to lead into our points. Very effective rhetoric.

  2. Great work Jodin. It is fairly obvious that David Swanson is the most “sound-byte ready”. We can all learn from him. Listening to these blips is really good training for anyone who wants to learn to debate and discuss the merits of the arguments for impeachment.
