WCAX, Vermont — A day after the Vermont Senate voted to impeach the President, supporters are now calling on the house to follow suit.
At City Hall in Burlington, dozens of people gathered to say thank you to the 16 Senators who passed Friday’s landmark resolution.
A similar resolution may be considered in the House on Wednesday. (More)
Upon the VT House passing this resolution, the U.S. House would then be prompted to act on impeachment according their own rules (Jefferson’s Manual).

Woe is the day we abandon the ammendment process as it stands.
The democracy is safer when all of them go on vacation. Things are bad enough now.
I would ask that anyone suggesting a constituional convention keep something in mind: The men who formulated our Constitution were, for the most part, intelligent and far sighted, and, quite a few represented the most brilliant political minds the world has ever seen. Take a close look at Washington today. Can anyone name a single one of our so called political leaders, regardless of party affiliation, that might be classified brilliant? Can anyone name a single person they would trust to improve on a document written by our founding fathers? No one will get any argument from me that our form of government needs change (I prefer a parliamentary system) but I frankly don’t trust people government to get affect that change. Many are small minded idealogical extremists, egotistical and self-motivated, and quite a few are simply intellectually ignorant and dishonest. Our “august” body of legislators can’t exist as a coherent body and carry on civil discourse, and, they have not proven themselves capable of making decisions for the benefit of all Americans being rather more concerned with party loyality and fealty to their financial supporters. Further, these two bodies gave us the Millitary Commissions Act, the Patriot Act, and four years of supplementary Pentagon budgets that have created a half trillion dollar deficit. The point being, our Constitution isn’t perfect but an important point ot consider is that people we charge to implement it are equally imperfect, and, in some instances they are dishonest, small-minded, and idealogically blinded. How can we trust these people to create a better document governance when they can’t agree on things as basic as habeus corpus, freedom of speech, use of torture, separation of powers, and a budget. The last thing I want is to have these same people tinkering with our primary governing document since we are apt to end up with a system far worse then we already have.
Here’s what I don’t understand. Given the fact that the official final count of Florida 2000 votes showed Gore won, why aren’t any criminal charges being brought against the Bush administration for their voter fraud activities? If not 2000, what about 2004 Ohio/New Mexico?
I believe the best solution (and this may seem whimsical or naive) would be to remove the current administration from the White House based on not validly winning the vote, and that ALL appointments, laws, reshaping of government agencies, and authorizations to allow the executive to involve the US in military conflict …the whole of it, the ENIRE MESS (including Supreme Court appointees, Guantanamo, Iraq, Military Tribunal Act, Patriot Act, on and on) is therefore nullified.
I first presented this idea as an April Fools wish, but the more I think about it the more i believe America needs to call a Constitutional Convention to redefine our government …
American troops come home from all international posts, the election is moved up and the presidency is held temporarily by the Speaker of the House who has no authority to act on behalf of the US without majority approval of both houses until replaced by an honestly elected government.
The new convention could deal with election law, public ONLY financing of elections and term limits for congress which would guarantee that we would have an entirely new body of leaders within 4 years. good bye K Street.
