Irish peace activist’s speech at Dallas event gets standing ovation

Nobel Peace Prize winner Betty Williams came from Ireland to Texas to declare that President Bush should be impeached.
In a keynote speech at the International Women’s Peace Conference on Wednesday night, Ms. Williams told a crowd of about 1,000 that the Bush administration has been treacherous and wrong and acted unconstitutionally.

Sedition? Not hardly. There is an obscure document called the Constitution (perhaps you’ve heard of it?) whose first amendment protects the rights of citizens to express their opinions. That same document mentions impeachment five seperate times as the appropriate way for ‘we the people’ to protect ourselves from a return to the tyranny from which we escaped in the mid-seventeen hundreds and to protect ourselves from those who would carelessly and with malicious intent release “the dogs of war”. War-profiteering imperialistic NeoCon Republicanism is tyrannical and anti-American. Cheney, Bush, Rice and many others remaining in this failed presidential administration are fully deserving of impeachment and removal from office.

Treason? Please.
Treason would be when multiple members of the White House staff (Fleischer, Armitage, Rove and Libby) compromise our national security by outing an NOC CIA agent during wartime (Valerie Plame-Wilson) in an act of political retribution against her husband, whistleblower Joseph Wilson on orders from their superior(s) (certainly Cheney and likely Bush as well). All this was spoken into testimony in the Libby trial without challenge by Libby’s defense team. It was all allowed to stand as spoken into evidence during testimony. These are facts that you choose to ignore.
“60-minute drama queens”? This is a laughable accusation as many of us have been working steadily and tirelessly to defend our nation from these wanna-be dictators for 2, 3 even 4 years without pay or much in the way of thanks – especially from the least informed among us – the FAUXNews-digitally lobotomized and most opinionated such as yourself.

The politically appointed neoconservatives in Justice sneer at Habeas Corpus; Geneva Convention; worker, consumer, investor and environment protection; education; affirmative action; individual rights and “entitlements†like Social Security and health care.
The corporate neo-con conspirators (Establishment) have their own agenda of a New World Order; W.T.O; N.A.F.T.A; N.A.U; immigration; globalization and “free tradeâ€; military seizure of foreign oil fields; employing a private army of mercenaries and propagandist; “dealing†with Afghanistan Opium drug lords harboring Osama Bin Laden and financing Al Qaeda.

All representatives- We are starting a list. I demand that you reaffirm your allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America and begin impeachment procedure against Bush, Cheney. If you do not, you will be branded a traitor. You’re either with U.S or against U.S.
Impeaching Bush, Cheney would not only save and cleanse the U.S.A but also bring our citizens together. Once again Americans would have pride and respect for their country. Impeachment of these neo-con criminals would vindicate the U.S.A with the rest of the world.

A few years back, I worked for Betty Williams. She has a fiery side, but that is passion. Passion for children. All children. Passion for their safety and their lives.
She related a story to me once, and it would be difficult to recall all the facts accurately, so I won’t try, except to say it was something of her defining moment. It was what ‘put her over the edge’ and made her into an activist for peace.
I don’t know the date, but as with many of the bloody conflicts in Northern Ireland, it resulted in a random child dying in her lap. Two, at the same time, if I recall correctly. After that she got up, organized a lot of mothers, marched, knocked on doors, and demanded peace. Eventually, it happened.
I can assure you that her comments are borne more through frustration than hate. You’ve seen, online or on tv, the “dead babies”, of Iraq, as Betty would call them. Others maimed, some just scared, but all emotionally scarred forever. Mr. Bush, for whatever reason, is the direct cause of a lot of children’s suffering and that, I believe, would be Betty’s point. Maybe, through some bit of logic he will eventually prove their champion. One would hope. However, I’d suggest it is far easier having kids die at your feet, than in your lap…
Since when does an opinion have to meet your criteria Michael? Pseudo ‘Politically correct’ thinking like yours is what poisons the well of critical thought.
