Contact Rep. Emanuel to Demand Impeachment

URGENT ACTION: CALL/FAX IMPEACHMENT MESSAGE TO RAHM EMANUEL’S CHICAGO OFFICE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2007 IN SUPPORT OF PDA-CHICAGO DEMONSTRATION CALLED FOR SATURDAY, 10-20-07, HELD IN FRONT OF EMANUEL’S OFFICE TO DEMAND HE USE HIS INFLUENCE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY TO PUT IMPEACHMENT BACK ON THE TABLE.
This is an Impeachment Support action by ‘THE NATIONAL GRASSROOTS IMPEACHMENT NETWORK’. (Originated by the San Fernando Valley chapter of LANIC.) We encourage all impeachment, antiwar, progressive organizations around the country to join in this action.
The message below was drafted with the input of Mike Kaufman of PDA-Chicago. This network defers to the local group’s decisions regarding message and timing.
Please spread the word about this national support action. We need to flood Rahm Emanuel’s office on Friday with hundreds, if not thousands, of calls and faxes to make clear to him that the local demonstrators on Saturday represent a much larger constituency. Dear Congressman Emanuel
As Democrats we write to you as one of our party’s leaders. You are Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and have a great deal of influence on what happens in this Congress. We are dismayed by your refusal to confront the lawbreakers, the violators of our Constitution. We wholeheartedly support the demonstration by your constituents and other Democrats outside you Chicago office Saturday October 20, 2007.
This demonstration led by PDA Chicago demands that you put impeachment back on the table.
By keeping impeachment off the table, you have not only failed your own oath of office to defend the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic, but also empowered Bush and Cheney to commit more high crimes and misdemeanors. In effect, you have put the Democratic party in the position of co-facilitator for the Executive Branch’s ongoing dismantling of the constitution and Bill of Rights. For that the American people hold you accountable, not just the people in your district and in your party. All Americans!
It is not too late to restore the rule of law in this country and our trust in your leadership. The remedy to the abuses of the Bush administration is in the
constitution: Impeachment. Use it.

  1. To allow this administration to continue as it is, with no thought to impeachment, is putting this country and it’s Constitution in jeopardy. If impeachment is not put back on the table for this administration, it is a signal that impeachment is no longer an option. Further, it lets those in organized religion who are attempting to gain more influence achieve their goal. In either case, America ceases to be as it was before this administration took over.

This past week, Bush commented: “I veto to show that I am relevant.” That is a veto for ego, not the good of the country. He denies healthcare to children, tries to abolish abortion, vetos stem cell research, and spends, to date, $592 million JUST on an American compound in Baghdad. He waged an illegal war and continues to occupy that country.

We must act now to end this madman’s reign of terror. I would like to think that is an overstatement. However, when one looks at all the facts, one sees that it comes nowhere close to the true reality of what this administration is doing to this country and the world. The last one to do this was Hitler. We must IMPEACH now, for the good and the continued existence of the United States of America.
