Impeachment: Next Stop, Conyers. Contact Him!

As many of you know, Rep. Kucinich introduced a new impeachment resolution H. Res. 799 (for the Impeachment of Vice President Cheney) on the floor of the House of Representatives this last Tuesday. Some odd maneuvers occurred on the floor of the House, which resulted in the resolution being sent to the House Judiciary Committee for consideration. This development has made impeachment much more likely than it has been before. H. Res. 799, as opposed to H. Res. 333, enters the Judiciary Committee with bi-partisan support and much more media attention. Kucinich also brought this resolution up as a “privileged resolution” which allows him to bring the impeachment discussion to the floor of the House again and again. Talk shows and blogs are buzzing about the real possibility of impeachment, and various House Reps. are making their positions public. Notably, Rep. Wexler is demanding impeachment hearings immediately. In an on-air interview, radio personality Ed Schultz loudly criticized Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her lack of support on impeachment.

While Rep. Kucinich indicated his confidence that House Judiciary Chair John Conyers would hold impeachment hearings, his confidence is surely due in part to an expectation that those favoring impeachment will contact Conyers’ office and pressure him to begin the process. The need for your involvement in the impeachment process has never been more urgent for the sake of our Constitution and the lives of U.S. soldiers and innocent civilians overseas. 1. How can there even be a question as to whether impeachment hearings and debate should proceed?
Cheney has lied and lied and lied about everything having to do with Iraq from the get-go.
He lied about WMD’s; he lied about yellow cake; he lied about his involvement in the Valery
Plame affair. How many lies does it take before the people we elect to represent us hear and act on what their constituency is telling them. Mr. Conyers, et al, in spite of what you might believe, you work for us, not for POTUS or anyone else. You work for WE THE PEOPLE. Duty must be done. Impeachment hearings and debate must proceed as per rules and regulations laid out. It is appropriate at this time to say, “Let us bring this substantially festering pustulation forth to the light and be done with it.”

  2. Respect for our constitution is all that stands between us and what has happened in Pakistan. Don’t let respect for our constitution diminish. The impeachment process itself is very important even if it eventually fails. Hearings are vital to preserve out liberty!

  3. Mr. Conyers has been a pillar of ethical and responsible behavior for many years. His background – vs what the Bush Administration might bring up about him – will hold him in good stead with the American
people as he rights the ship of state. Fear is for the fearful. Altruism is for the sentient and boldness contains magic within. ……GO, JOHN !!!……. America awaits you.

  4. Sen. Conyers needs to SEE at least several thousand citizens at his office doors requesting meetings on this issue of Moving ON With IMPEACHMENT. Emails and telephone calls have been ignored thru the INVASION of a soverign nation and the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis. These Democrats (Pelosi – Conyers- Clinton) are not REPRESENTING the WILL OF the PEOPLE and they freakin’ know it.

  5. He has a Choice. Impeach Cheney to Prevent World War 3. If he does not Impeach, We get closer and closer to a World War.
